THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Council for Child Welfare has taken custody of three-and-a-half-year-old Shibu after his sick mother allegedly attempted to kill him inside the bathroom of the district hospital in Pathanamthitta recently, citing financial difficulties. The hospital staff and other patients rescued the boy after he cried out in the struggle. The mother and the child were taken to the police station where the woman said she did not have the wherewithal to support him. The boy was handed over to the council in the capital city based on a directive from the police.
