Concrete divider at Koti junction to curb accidents

Sir,

The road from Andhra Bank to Koti bus stop is encroached by vendors causing traffic snarls 24 hours. Police turn a blind eye to this menace. Vehicles coming from different bylanes cause accidents at the junctions near Haridwar Hotel and Ganesh temple on Esamia Bazar.

Khalid Hasan

New Malakpet Dear Mr. Hasan,

I agree that proper enforcement has been generally lacking in the Koti area because of different reasons. We are trying to get the Chappal Bazar junction modified. Concrete divider is being laid by the GHMC on the road, as suggested by you. Sir,

Unlike Bangalore, there are uneven roads in many parts of Hyderabad. A 6-lane road ends up in a 4 -lane leading to traffic congestion. No police on JNTU-Nizampet stretch is resulting in chaos. Why are there no underpasses like in Bangalore which makes the traffic flow smooth?

P. Siva Keshava Sastry

Kukatpally

Dear Mr. Sastry,

JNTU –Nizampet Road falls under the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate. The designing of flyover and underpass is done by engineers under the GHMC / HUDA / R&B. As regards the width of the road and availability of lanes, the same agencies are responsible. With the opening of new flyovers there has been improvement in the flow of traffic.

Sir,

The traffic signals at Chilkalguda crossroads and some other places are not functioning since their installation five months ago. This is causing confusion among commuters. The problem is further compounded due to absence of policemen there.

Y. Rajesh

Dear Mr. Rajesh,

The Chilkalguda crossroads is 5-road junction with heavy traffic flow round the clock. Due to this and also a big traffic island, the signal timings could not be synchronized. We are regularly posting men here for traffic regulation. I have visited it again and found that the mess can be cleared by stopping bus parking between the island and the Oliphant Bridge. I have directed my ACP to take up with RTC and ensure that bus stops are allowed 20-30 metres before the rotary. Auto parking at the junction will also go.

Sir,

Inculcating lane discipline and imposing severe punishment to those flouting them is essential. Avoid three wheelers, seven-seaters on the main roads and provide lanes for two wheelers penalizing them heavily for lane crossing.

R.M. Sundaram

Dilsukhnagar Dear Mr. Sundaram,

We are trying to implement lane driving through announcements, banners, pamphlets and also booking slow moving vehicles found obstructing others by not moving in the left lane. We are advising pedestrians also to be careful while crossing the road and to observe the signals. We will take up booking of the pedestrians, shortly.
