e-mail proves to be a hoax in Kolkata
Marcus Dam
Kolkata: An e-mail sent to a newspaper office, warning of blasts in the city by 10 p.m. on Tuesday, proved to be hoax. The mail was signed by SIMI. Police made elaborate security arrangements at the places mentioned in the mail and pickets were set up in these areas.
The e-mail also mentioned a car number which was traced to the Land and Land Reforms Minister Abdur Razzak Mollah. When police contacted the Minister, he said the car was parked in another area of the city as is usual.
A general alert has been sounded across the State and vigil intensified at railway stations and the airport.
