PDS rice seized

Coimbatore: The flying squad officials of the District Administration intercepted a lorry laden with 227 bags of rice weighing 11 tonnes meant for distribution under the Public Distribution System (PDS) at Sirumugai on Monday. Following information about attempts to smuggle PDS rice to Karnataka the Flying Squad Tahsildar V. Subramanian and his team conducted vehicle checks at Sathyamangalam and intercepted the lorry. The officials have taken into custody, the lorry driver Manjunath (24).
