Waiver certificates to be issued at melas Action plan for 2008-09 prepared VIZIANAGARAM: The ‘runa vimukthi’ scheme, announced by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for Scheduled Castes, will benefit 33,012 persons who borrowed below Rs.1 lakh from various lending agencies like National SC Finance Development Corporation, National Safai Karmachari Finance Development Corporation, etc., between July 1979 and March 31, 2008 in the district, according to G. Krishna, Executive Director of A.P. SC Co-operative Finance Corporation. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Krishna said the total amount waived was Rs. 29.69 crores. The list of beneficiaries with details of amount waived would be displayed at gram panchayats and mandal parishad offices. A certificate informing them about the waiver would also be issued at ‘runa vimkti melas’ being conducted in each mandal. Notices issuedThe Executive Director said that notices were issued to 214 beneficiaries who availed loan facility of over Rs.1lakh under various schemes and they owe Rs.3.40 crores to the corporation. The ‘runa vimukti’ scheme would be extended to those who clear dues accrued over and above Rs.1 lakh before December 10 this year else action would be taken as per the rules, he said. Mr. Krishna said as per the action plan for 2008-09, a total of 4,523 beneficiaries would be sanctioned Rs.10.79 crores for setting up units under land development, irrigation and horticulture schemes. Beneficiaries would be identified by August 31 through gram sabhas. He said the corporation, hereafter, would not sanction loans but it would give 50 per cent subsidy or up to Rs. 30,000 of the unit cost and the bankers, as agreed at a meeting with Collector on July 5, would extend the balance amount as loan to the beneficiary. He said priority would be given to those who had been living in villages and not so far availed of the facility. He hoped that the corporation would be able to achieve the target by December. Executive Officers of the corporation -- G. Bharat Bhushan Jaya Babu and V. Vijay Kumar -- were present.
