Panel to take up development of beach park

Kakinada: The district administration has decided to constitute a committee in a week to take up the development of beach park at Vakalapudi here. The committee will coordinate with government departments concerned and private stakeholders in planning and implementing the project aimed at drawing more number of tourists to the beach front. Addressing a meeting on Tuesday, Joint Collector GSRKR Vijay Kumar said the Tourism Department was requested to develop a beach resort and also to provide boating facility to the Hope island which is one of the major tourist attractions around Kakinada.

Kakinada MLA Mutha Gopalakrishna suggested that Kakinada port and Social Forestry Department should jointly raise a green belt in the park. Sampara MLA A Bullabbai Reddy said he would work for the development of the proposed beach park/ resort which is estimated to cost Rs 1 crore.
