Raids on dal, rice mills

CHILAKALURIPET: Sleuths of the Vigilance and Enforcement Department swooped on five dal mills late on Monday night to look into allegations of hoarding of pulses.

The raids were continuing. The officials were verifying whether the godowns were hoarding stocks beyond the permissible limits of 1,000 quintals.

In another case, Civil Supplies officials on Tuesday raided a prominent rice mill on the basis of reports of illegal hoarding and smuggling of rice meant for Public Distribution System.

Investigations are continuing when reports last came in.
