NEW DELHI: The annual series of the Jawaharlal Nehru hockey tournaments will start from October 6 at four different venues. Since the regular venue of these tournaments, Shivaji Stadium here, is being renovated for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, the matches would be held at Sahabad (Haryana), Nehru Stadium, Gurgaon, Jalandhar and Ludhiana. The tournament society has got a shot in the arm with Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. donating Rs. 15 lakh for the tournaments. The company will be the title sponsor of the senior men’s meet, starting November 14. The last date for receipt of entries for sub-junior, junior and girls’ tournaments is September 30. The schedule: Oct. 6 to 15: 15th Nehru girls tournament (Sahabad); Oct. 18 to 31: 26th Nehru sub-junior boys tournament (Gurgaon); Oct. 31 to Nov. 14: 37th ATS Nehru junior boys (u-17) tournament (Gurgaon); Nov. 14 to 25: 45th Jindal Steel Nehru hockey tournament (Gurgaon); Feb. 8 to 15: 16th SAIL Nehru champion colleges tournament (Jalandhar/ Ludhiana). — Sports Reporter
