PSG CAS in final

Coimbatore: PSG College of Arts and Science won both its league matches and entered the final of the Bharathiar University inter-collegiate table tennis tournament for men at the Kongunadu Arts and Science College premises here on Tuesday.

The results (Semifinal league): PSG CAS bt Bharathiar University 3-1; bt Kongu Arts (Erode) 3-1; CMS bt Bharathiar University 3-1; lost to Kongu (Erode) 2-3.

Preetham lifts title

R. Preetham Sharma of Southern Railway clinched the open title in the 22nd district level and fifth open chess tournament at the Maarappa Gounder Kalyana Mandapam recently.

Karthick-Raja duo wins

K.P. Karthick Maruthi and G. Raja from Erode clinched the open class title in the Ambal Auto Rally, organised by the Coimbatore Auto Sports Club and sponsored by Ambal Auto, here recently.

N. Balaji and K. Pradeep combo from Mysore emerged successful in the two wheeler section. Ashokan Muthuswamy, Managing Director, Ambal Autos, gave away the prizes.

The results (Four wheelers): 1. Karthick Maruthi/G. Raja (Erode); 2. A. Shanmuga Sundaram/Arumugam (Cbe); 3. Manju Mustafa.

Two wheelers: 1. Balaji/Pradeep (Mysore); 2. Ravichandran (Cbe); 2. Tamilselvan/Munna (Erode).

All ladies: 1. Sumita Shivakumar/Vijaya Chandrika.

Ranjit CC ‘B’ wins

At Namakkal, Ranjit ‘B’ Cricket Club posted a five-wicket win over Rajaganapathy Cricket Club (Namakkal) in the Canara Bank-DCAN first division league at the ICL Colony grounds recently.

The scores: Rajaganapathy CC (Namakkal) 145 in 31.2 overs (Sakthi 47, Muthuraja four for 23) lost to Ranjit CC ‘B’ (Tiruchengodu) 146 for five in 27.3 overs (R. Kannan 53).
