Tribals advised to go for foodgrain crops
Staff Reporter
ADILABAD: Adilabad Collector Ahmad Nadeem on Tuesday opined that food processing industries are a requirement in order to add value to the agriculture produce in the district. He suggested that farmers in tribal areas go for traditional foodgrain crops for self-consumption.
He suggested establishment of fruit pulp units and other processing plants for byproducts in order to give a logical direction to the kind of horticulture farming done in the district.
At an awareness programme organised by the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), the Collector pointed out the increasing incidence of anaemia among the tribals. He said such incidence was the result of poor nutrition.
