THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Federation of Residents Associations Thiruvananthapuram (FRAT) has urged the government to shift the Family Court to the building from where the Collectorate functions at Vanchiyoor. A meeting of the office-bearers of FRAT said the government may shift the Family Court to Vanchiyoor once the Collectorate is shifted to the Civil Station premises at Kudapanakunnu. Thiruvananthapuram taluk and part of Neyyattinkara taluk come under the jurisdiction of the family court. The family court is now functioning near Sreekariyam. Women, children and senior citizens are finding it difficult to reach the court now. FRAT president Pattom Sasidharan Nair and general secretary Parinayam Devakumar, in a release, said a memorandum in this regard was submitted to Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Vijayakumar.
