‘Digging of roads is dangerous’

In response to the Public Eye of July 16, Anicet Mendonca from Kadri Mallikatta writes that digging of trenches on public roads is dangerous. The area from Bunts Hostel to Shivbaugh and the roads leading to St. Agnes, St. Theresa’s School and the junction and bylanes, such as Lobo Lane, have been affected by such digging, he says and adds that the authorities should view the matter seriously.

Observing that there appears to be no end for digging of trenches on these roads, he blames it on the callousness of the corporation in dealing with the issue. “MCC should be made responsible for accidents on such roads,” Mr. Mendonca says. S. Dheenadhayalan, resident of KHB Colony at Shaktinagar, in response to Public Eye of July 2, observes that the success of the old Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee yard at Bunder lies in its strategic position, encompassed with every mode of logistics. This market served as an epicentre for commercial activities of Dakshina Kannada and Lakshadweep. The yard at Bykampady is bereft of facilities. He suggests that the APMCshould focus oninviting new entrepreneurs to its yard.
