Prathima bags title

HYDERABAD: Bansi Prathima of Hyderabad clinched the title in the World Schools’ chess championship in the under-seven category with an eighth-round win over Nimus Prima Sieta of Indonesia in Singapore on Tuesday, according to information received here.

Prathima picked up eight points from eight rounds to settle the issue in her favour with one round to spare.

Srikar scalps five

Fine bowling by N.V.R. Srikar (five for 23) helped Gemini Friends record an eight-wicket win over Oxford Blues in the A-Division (two-day) league cricket championship here on Tuesday.

The scores: A-Division (two-day) league: PKCC 160 (Kalyan Chakravarthy four for 39) lost to Ours 161 for seven (Mukesh four for 19).

Oxford Blues 125 (N.V.R. Srikar five for 23) lost to Gemini Friends 128 for two (Ashwin Vijay 64 n.o.).

Brothers XI 219 (Faraz Baig 55, Md. Sajjad Ali 40) lost to Budding Stars 220 for eight (Rajesh 42, Vivek 98).

VST 151 bt Jai Bhagwati 145 (Arvind Yadav 40).

Telangana 147 (Shiva Kumar 40, Mohammed Irfan five for 32) lost to Vijay Hanuman 148 for five (Sangram Reddy 47, Sami Ansari 59 n.o.).

EMCC 147 (N. Vinay Rao 50) lost to Megacity 148 for five (Neeraj Bist 79 n.o.).
