Chennai: It was a run feast at IIT-Chemplast as Jolly Rovers cantered to 431 for six at stumps on day one of its TNCA first division league match against UFCC (T. Nagar). S. Badrinath hit 14 boundaries and four sixes as he made 125 off just 86 balls. He put on 162 for the third wicket with opener M. Vijay, who made 95. Vijay had earlier been involved in a second wicket stand of 118 with V. Subramania Siva, who made 54. J. Gowjith Subash and Petson Matthews later added 87 for the sixth wicket. India Pistons restrictedAfter a delayed start at CPT-IP, Grand Slam bowled India Pistons out for 100 in 45.2 overs, with off-spinner S. Suresh Kumar scalping five for the third time this season. In reply, Grand Slam lost three wickets in reaching 73 at close of play. Two of them went to medium-pacer C. Ganapathy. At ICL-Gurunanak, Vijay CC medium-pacer R. Devendiran ran through Young Stars’ lower-order, picking up five wickets in a 6.1-over second spell. S.R. Ganesh Kumar top-scored for Young Stars, with an unbeaten 43. In reply, Vijay CC ended the day at 60 for one, with K. Varun Kumar and N. Einstein, both into the twenties, at the crease. On a sluggish Chepauk wicket, Indian Bank, put in to bat by Aruna CC, ended the day on 193 for eight. S. Karthik made a painstaking 43 off 174 balls, and added 60 runs with R. M. Lakshmi Narayan for the third wicket. At Murugappa Polytechnic, I.K. Rohit, unbeaten on 89 at stumps, and Ra Arvind put on 138 for the fourth wicket to guide Parry’s to 203 for four against Globe Trotters. It was similarly steady progress for Alwarpet CC at Southern Railway, as it reached 189 for the loss of three wickets after a delayed start against Southern Railway Institute. Ashwin Venkatraman and V. Maaruthi Raghav were at the crease at stumps, having already put on 83 for the fourth wicket. M.O. Arjun Sarathy and R.
