Rs.1 lakh handed over to Kamaraj’s niece

VIRUDHUNAGAR: The Virudhunagar Collector, V. Chandrasekaran, handed over a cheque of Rs.1 lakh to Kamaladevi, niece of former Chief Minister, K. Kamaraj, here on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi, had announced the assistance for ailing Ms. Kamaladevi, from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund after he read about her plight in an interview published in a weekly magazine, the statement said. He has also ordered to deposit Rs.1.5 lakh in Tamil Nadu Power Finance Corporation in her name so that she would get an assistance of Rs.1,000 a month through interest accrued.
