PALAKKAD: The special investigation team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police C.K. Ramachandran will seek the custody of Rejikumar, prime accused in the murder of his wife, Lissy, and their four children, Amal, Amanya, Amalu and Amalya, on Thursday. He is currently lodged in the Ottapalam sub-jail. The police did not seek his custody immediately after remanding him on Monday because of the irate crowd that was present at Amayur, near Pattambi, where the crime took place. Police officials said that the accused would not be safe due to the angry crowd that could be present once they knew that he was being brought to the house to take evidence. They think that they will not be able to ensure the safety of the accused in this emotionally charged atmosphere and there can be a law and order problem. Rejikumar was arrested in Kottayam on Saturday and brought to Palakkad on Sunday night and produced before the court on Monday. The court remanded him to 15 days’ judicial custody. District Superintendent of Police Vijay Sakhare said that the investigation team would be given awards and good service entry for their success in solving the case.
