Thousands expected at Ma’din Haj camp

Staff Reporter

To be inaugurated on Saturday

Camp to discuss various aspects of undertaking Haj

Meant for Haj pilgrims of this season

MALAPPURAM: Preparations were in full swing for a State-level Haj camp to be held at Swalat Nagar near here on Saturday.

The Ma’dinu Ssaquafathil Islamiyya, which organises the camp, has provided facilities to accommodate thousands of pilgrims at the camp.

State Haj Committee chairman A.K. Abdul Hameed will inaugurate the camp on Saturday morning. Kozhikode District Collector A. Jayathilak, who is secretary of the State Haj Committee, and Malappuram District Collector M.C. Mohandas will attend. Islamic scholar Kootampara Abdurahman Darimi will lead the classes.

The organisers said that the camp would be free for all Haj pilgrims of this year who would visit Mecca either in the government group or in private group.

The camp, to be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., will deal with various aspects of Haj, including journey, rituals, historical significance of the places to be visited, immunization programmes, and the return programme.

The organisers will provide free food and other facilities to all participants. People from distant places will be given free accommodation, said programme committee office-bearers Sayed Ismail Bukhari, Ibrahim Baqavi, and Jaleel Saqafi.

They said it was the 12th consecutive Haj camp being organised by the Ma’dinu Ssaquafathil Islamiyya, whose monthly Swalat and its anniversary during the Ramzan have been hugely popular among the Sunni believers.

The Haj Helpline of Ma’dinu Ssaqafathil Islamiyya has already been functional.

The help desk at Ma’din has been giving free services such as distribution and filling-up of Haj application forms, attestation of application forms and medical checkups and related facilities. It had provided real-time information of Haj selection through its website.
