Supratim discharged
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: Twenty-two-year-old Supratim Dutta, who impaled himself on a five-foot-long iron rod on July 12, has been discharged from the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences here.
Supratim underwent a six-hour surgery at the Jayaprakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre of AIIMS and remained in the hospital for over two weeks.
AIIMS Trauma Centre assistant professor Biplab Mishra said: “The patient came to us with an iron-bar projecting from the anterior and posterior chest walls. We saw that the rod had missed his vital parts like the kidneys and the heart.” “His case was a learning experience for us. The surgery was done in a specially planned manner,” he added.
