BANGALORE: A Malaysian national was arrested for using stolen credit cards to purchase electronic gadgets and expensive watches all worth Rs. 2 lakh. The Ashoknagar police said Tan Kim Chin (23) arrived in Bangalore on July 24 via Chennai and had used stolen credit cards at Forum and Lifestyle. He was arrested after a senior official of Citibank brought it to the notice of the police. During investigations, he reportedly confessed to have created fake credit cards of several leading banks by using the photo copies of passport belonging to a Chinese national Lee Ken Xiang along with another associate Ali. ArrestedThe Basavanagudi police have arrested a gang of dacoits on charges of assaulting a journalist and robbing him of cash and mobile phone near DVG Road recently. The police said that the accused Gurumurthy (25), Sujay (22), Pratap (20), Harish (24) and Dilip Raj (23) had attacked H. Mohan Kumar with a machete and had robbed him of Rs. 5,120 in cash and a mobile phone besides ATM cards and identity cards. Based on the information, the accused were taken into custody from the Bangalore Central Prison where they had been lodged in relation to another case. RobbedThe store manager of an apparel company was robbed of gold chain and mobile phone by a gang of three on Hennur Main Road on Monday night. The Hennur police said that Parthiban, a resident of Banaswadi, was waiting to board a bus on Hennur Main Road when an autorikshaw driver offered to take him in his vehicle that had two occupants. Partiban was relieved of his belongings by the three before being thrown out of the vehicle some distance away. Further investigation is on into the incident. FinedThe Bangalore Traffic police collected a fine of Rs. 4.5 lakh from violators of traffic rules in Bangalore East and West traffic divisions. A release from the policesaid that 990 motorists were fined for violating traffic rules including rash and negligent driving, using dazzling headlights, riding without helmet, jumping signal lights, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
