Plea: Students of educational institutions run by Anjuman-e-Islam taking out a protest march in Hubli on Wednesday. HUBLI: Muslim students, mainly girls studying in various educational institutions run by Anjuman-e-Islam, took out a protest march here on Wednesday, condemning the blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad. They were led by Jabbarkhan Honnalli, former Minister and Anjuman-e-islam secretary, and other office-bearers of the organisation. The students raised slogans against terrorism and said that unity was the key to solving the present crisis in the country. The protesters were holding placards highlighting the teachings of Islam. Addressing the students, Mr. Honnalli and others demanded that those responsible for the terror strikes be arrested. Bar licenceIn Dharwad, members of All India Mahila Samskrutika Sanghatane and the All India Democratic Youth Organisation took out a protest march and staged a demonstration on Wednesday against the State Government’s decision to give 1,500 licences for opening bar and restaurants across the State. Retired college principal Veena Sankanagoudar and AIMSS State vice-president H.M. Manjula condemned the decision and urged for immediate withdrawal of the order. The protestors marched from Kadapa Maidan to the Deputy Commissioner’s office wehre they submitted a memorandum to Mohan Sasanur, headquarters’ assistant to the Deputy Commissioner.
