TIRTHAHALLI (SHIMOGA): A suspected naxalite was arrested by the Anti-Naxal Force near Durvaspur at Agumbe in Tirthahalli, Shimoga district, on Tuesday. With this, the police claim to have made a major crackdown on naxal activities in Malnad region. He has been identified as Krishna (28) of Koranakote in Hosnagar. Based on information provided by him, a huge stock of weapons, ammunition and incriminating materials were recovered from Potluru, near Belthangadi, and Tingalamakki, near Karkala, which are situated deep in the forests. A .303 rifle, one grenade, four 65-mm used cartridges, a walkie talkie and Maoist and Naxal literature were among the materials seized. Krishna who was produced before the Magistrate in Tirthahalli on Wednesday was remanded in police custody.
