Appropriation Bill passed

Bangalore: The Legislative Assembly on Wednesday passed the Karnataka Appropriation Bill, 2008 authorising payment and appropriation of sums from and out of the Consolidated Fund to the tune of Rs. 62,293.67 crore for the financial year 2008-09, presented by Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa.
Earlier, the entire Opposition led by the Leader of the Opposition M. Mallikarjun Kharge and H.D. Revanna of the Janata Dal (Secular) staged a walk-out criticising the budget as anti-farmer and anti-poor.
The House also passed the Karnataka Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2008, the Karnataka Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2008, the Karnataka Motor Vehicles Taxation (Amendment) Bill, 2008 and the Karnataka Stamp (Amendment) Bill, 2008 to give effect to the budget proposals.
