Resolution against textbook

MALAPPURAM: The Malappuram district panchayat has adopted a resolution rejecting the controversial Class VII Social Science textbook. The opposition staged a walkout in protest against the move. The resolution, moved by Zuhara Mambad, pointed out that the textbook would be instrumental in promoting rationalism and Communist ideologies. It demanded that the textbook be withdrawn. Earlier, the opposition staged a walkout over another resolution on the nuclear deal with America. The Opposition argued that the nuclear deal had nothing to do with a civic body in Malappuram. — Staff Reporter
