“Centre has put PDS into deeper crisis”
Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Food and Civil Supplies Minister C. Divakaran on Wednesday said Kerala’s public distribution system was in for further difficulties, with the Centre taking a decision to stop the curtailed allocation of rice to the Above Poverty Line families in the State.
The Minister said he had received a communication from the Centre that there would be no rice allocation for the APL card-holders from August to December.
The State was receiving just over 17,000 tonnes of rice a month from the Centre for the APL card-holders, the quota having been slashed from the level of 1,13,000 tonnes over the last couple of years.
