dated July 31, 1958: Britain and Russia

Britain is to press on for a Summit meeting on the Middle East within the framework of the United Nations, the Lord Chancellor, Lord Kilmuir, said in London on July 29. He told the House of Lords that the British Government was disappointed with the latest reply of Mr. Nikita Khrushchev, the Soviet Prime Minister, to the British Prime Minister, Mr. Harold Macmillan because they thought Mr. Khrushchev had gone further in accepting the United Nations framework than appeared from his communication.
