Orchid achieves higher gross margins in Q1

CHENNAI: Orchid Chemicals has achieved a turnover of Rs. 287.66 crore in the three months ended June 30, 2008, against Rs. 235.97 crore in the corresponding quarter in 2007-08. The profit before interest and exceptional items was Rs. 57.16 crore against Rs. 43.23 crore. The loss on FCCBs issued earlier dampened profitability during the quarter. The company suffered a net loss of Rs. 31.65 crore against a profit of Rs. 51.30 crore.
