KURNOOL: The supporters of Raithu Sangham (CPI affiliation) held a demonstration here on Wednesday protesting against the participation of India in the WTO-sponsored Doha round of talks. Raithu Sangham district secretary K. Jagannatham and other leaders urged the Indian government to drop out from the negotiations on the ground that it was detrimental to the interests of Indian farmers. They said the WTO was fully under the control of the United States and any outcome there would be in favour of the super power. According to them, the impact of the WTO agreements could result in reduced subsidy to the farm sector, cut in bank lending to priority sector and import of foreign agriculture products in a big way.
