THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Internet banking is catching up in the State with some 35,000 transactions of the State Bank of Travancore (SBT) alone being carried out on the Net every month, according to Assistant General Manager of SBT K.P. Rajendran. The number, though small when viewed against the one lakh customers who have the facility for viewing their accounts and making transactions, indicated a definitive trend towards increased use of internet as a tool for carrying out transactions. The SBT has rolled out internet banking facility in all branches that have core banking solutions and this enables customers to access their accounts on a real-time basis and make transactions. All online customers of the bank would now be able to access the internet banking facility through the bank’s new web site www.sbtonline.in. The facilities now on offer include transactions such as transfer of funds between a customer’s accounts, third party transfers, request for issue of cheque book, request for issuing of drafts/bank cheques against balance in the customer’s account, payment of indirect taxes such as excise duty and service tax and reservation of railway tickets.
