NEW DELHI: Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna on Wednesday convened a high-level meeting to review the security situation in the Capital in the wake of the bomb explosions in Bangalore and Ahmedabad and the recovery of a large number of explosives in Surat. During the meeting, Members of Parliament from Delhi gave their views and suggestions on the issue. Delhi Police Commissioner Y. S. Dadwal asserted that every effort would be made to strengthen the security environment in the Capital with active support of the citizens and through diligent discharge of duty by all police personnel. The MPs who attended the meeting were Dr. Karan Singh and J. P. Agarwal from the Rajya Sabha and Sajjan Kumar, Krishna Tirath and Jagdish Tytler from the Lok Sabha. The lone BJP MP from Delhi, Vijay Kumar Malhotra, conveyed his inability to attend the meeting on account of a Parliamentary Committee meeting scheduled at the same time. The MPs were unanimous in observing that the people of Delhi would act in unison in foiling the nefarious designs of anti-national elements who want to disrupt peace and harmony in the country. They also urged the people to remain extra vigilant about suspicious objects, persons and movements in their vicinity. It was also stated that citizens should immediately inform the police about any untoward activity on the Police Control Room numbers 100 or 1090.
