THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) has made elaborate arrangements for the annual rituals to be conducted in connection with ‘Karkidaka Vavubali,’ which will be observed on Friday. Deputy Devaswom Commissioners have been posted as special officers in the temples at Thiruvallam, Varkala, Thirumullavaram and Aluva. Devaswom officials have been posted at Sanghumughom, Aruvikkara, Kadinamkulam, Tamalam, Trivakramangalam and Neyattinkara temples also to ensure that devotees do not face any harship. At the Thiruvallam temple, tickets for the ‘Vavubali’ offering, that commenced on July 24, is still being given. ‘Bali mandapam’One more ‘bali mandapam’ had been set up for devotees who buy tickets in advance. As many as 2,000 devotees can undertake the ‘Vavubali’ offering inside the temple at a time. Fifteen priests and 13 assistant priests have been posted at the temple. The Electricity Board has been asked to give exemption to load-shedding on Friday. More police personnel will be deployed this year. Apart from the doctors and paramedical staff of the Health Department, officials from the Revenue, Water Authority, Fire Force, City Corporation will assist the devotees. At the Janardana Swamy temple, Varkala, 150 priests have been given licence to perform rituals. Apart from life guards of tourism and TDB, the personnel from Varkala municipality, Navy, police and fire force too have been posted at the temples.
