Dalmiya back in power

KOLKATA: After being out of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) for 17 months, Jagmohan Dalmiya and his panel returned to power with a thumping victory in the elections held at the 77th AGM at the Eden Gardens, here on Tuesday.

The former ICC, ACC and BCCI president Dalmiya drubbed the incumbent president Prasun Mukherjee by a huge margin of 71-47.

Sweeping the polls

His panel swept through in all posts including the five-member Trustee Board.

Biswarup Dey and Arun Mitra garnered 75 and 62 votes respectively as against sitting joint secretaries Samar Paul and Amitava Banerjee.

Amitava could manage only 56 and 43 votes respectively.

Bablu Ganguly triumphed over Tushar Sarkar for the treasurer’s post winning the contest 75-43. Samar Kar, Shibaji Dutta, Shiv Kumar Kalyani and Arijit Roy were elected vice-presidents. — Special Correspondent
