Harihara Sudan holds D.P. Singh

Chennai: City schoolboy Harihara Sudan held former champion and International Master D.P. Singh of Southern Railway to a creditable draw in the third round of the eighth Adyar Times FIDE-rating chess tournament here on Wednesday.

Favourite S. Nitin won in 35 moves with the white pieces using a four knights opening to defeat Debanjan Datta of Kolkata

George Daniel of BSNL shocked Duthageer Ibrahim of Madurai to be among the 14 leaders on full three points. In another upset, Madurai arbiter Senthil Kumaran overcame higher-rated P. Maheswaran of Sivakasi.
