KOZHIKODE: District Collector A. Jayathilak inaugurated the Crafts Bazaar arranged by the Kerala State Handicrafts Development Corporation at the Jaya Auditorium, Kandamkulam here on Wednesday. Khan Shahjehan, Director, Handicrafts Development Corporation, presided over the programme. Traditional productsThe objective of the programme is to provide a profitable market for the products manufactured by traditional artisans from all over the country. The 75 stalls put up at the bazaar showcase a wide range of handicrafts products from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Show of skillThe skill and craftsmanship of Kerala artisans are exhibited in a whole range of items from wood carvings, straw paintings, and items made from coconut shell, banana fibre and leaves. Diverse materialsTerracotta and bamboo craft, handloom products, saris and dress materials, stone jewellery from different parts of the country are some of the items on show and sale. A rebate of 10 per cent is offered on all items. The exhibition will be on till August 17.
