PUDUCHERRY: The Perunthalaivar Kamaraj Night School Teachers Welfare Association on Thursday held a protest to urge the government to fulfil their demands for employment. The association said that around 340 night school teachers were employed at the Puducherry Municipality, Oulgaret Municipality, Karaikal, Yanam and Mahe for 10 years. In 2006, the government had assured to regularise them but their services were terminated two years ago citing shortage of funds. After repeated pleas, the Chief Minister had assured to absorb the teachers in the Local Administration Department as multi-purpose workers but nothing had moved till date, the association said.
