Egg distribution stopped
Staff Reporter
TIRUPATTUR: Students of Panchayat Union Middle School at Kandili near Tirupattur have not been given eggs for the past two days. The distribution has been stopped as many of the eggs had turned rotten. Kandili panchayat president Babu Shankar, who on Thursday came to the school to supervise the construction of additional classrooms, instructed the noon meal staff not to supply eggs to the students.
According to the teachers, the school had a total of 266 students on rolls and a total of 230 students took their food at the noon meal centre. Though the Sate government had ordered distribution of eggs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, this was not strictly followed in the school. The reason cited was erratic supply of eggs.
The supply has been erratic for the past three months, they added.
