PATHANAMTHITTA: Minister for Electricity A.K. Balan will inaugurate the district convention of Scheduled Castes, organised by the Communist Party of India (CPI) district committee, at Shine Tower auditorium here on Saturday. In a statement issued here on Thursday, CPI(M) district secretary K. Ananthagopan said the meet would discuss various welfare schemes for the Scheduled Caste sections of society. CPI(M) State committee member R. Unnikrishna Pillai, K.C. Rajagopalan and Raju Abraham, MLAs and P.K. Kumaran, former Pandalam MLA, will also address the meet. — Staff Reporter
