BHIMAVARAM: The police on Thursday unravelled the mystery behind the murder of an astrologer reported in a private lodge here on July 13. Superintendent of Police B. Balakrishna said that the police could solve the case as the mobile calls made by the accused person proved to be the clinching evidence. Yarlagadda Babu Rao (62) of Yarlagaddavarilanka in Challapalli mandal of Krishna district, who allegedly killed Tiwari Radhakrishna Prasad (56), an astrologer from Narsapur, by offering him drugs in heavy doses mixed in soft drink, was arrested in a filmy style while he was travelling in Narsapur-bound train from Hyderabad at the local railway station. A CLUES team led by town Circle Inspector P. Bhaskar Rao found a mobile phone at the scene of offence and the call list available indicated that the accused person made several calls to the victim before he executed the murder. The SP said it was a case of murder for gain as the accused person removed five gold rings and a locket from the victim after the latter fell unconscious. Babu Rao was alleged to have invited Prasad to a private lodge on the pretext of seeking the latter’s help and offered him soft drink mixed with sedatives to steal the gold ornaments from his person. The accused person allegedly left the lodge after accomplishing his task, leaving the victim in an unconscious state. Lodge personnel found him dead the next day, the SP said. Mr. Balakrishna said the accused person was trained in use of sedative drugs from a person at Chennai and was involved in offences in Narketpalli in Nalgonda district and in Duggirala in Guntur district.
