Rajasthan bid to enhance employability of rural students

MoU signed with skills enhancement firm 24x7 Learning

Programmes to be offered at seven colleges in State

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government on Thursday signed an MoU with skills enhancement company 24x7 Learning to introduce employability enhancement programmes at seven colleges in the State.

The project, to be implemented in a phased manner, will offer training in critical job skills through Knowledge Centres for three-and-a-half months. The selected colleges are in Dungarpur, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, Beawar, Sikar and Kaladera (Jaipur).

The MoU was signed between Pawan Kumar Goel, Commissioner, Higher Education, and Kartik K.S., CEO of 24x7 Learning. The opening of Knowledge Centres under public-private participation was part of announcements made by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje in her Budget speech this year.

“The attempt is to enhance the employability of the rural students,” said Mr. Goel interacting with journalists later. The State had opened seven such centres the previous year with the support of Infosys and Genpact. “This year’s target is to open 15 centres. Eight more centres are to be opened soon,” he said.

“The Knowledge Centres based on SkillBridge employability enhancement programme would open new avenues by providing better career opportunities for students who are in their final year in college or are seeking employment,” Mr. Kartik said.

“SkillBridge would address the early training needs and help in bridging the skill gap between academia and the industry,” he pointed out.

The Knowledge Centres are to help second and third year graduate students to acquire job skills in communication, personality development, team work, spoken and written English, resume writing and interview preparation delivered through both classroom session and eLearning.
