It has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 17 lakh DHARWAD: The Laxmibai Bendre centenary memorial building “Sakhigeeta”, built for the D.R. Bendre National Memorial Trust, will be inaugurated on Sunday. Chairman of the trust M.M. Kalburgi told presspersons on Wednesday that the building, constructed at a cost of Rs. 17 lakh, had a guesthouse, office and a bookstall. He said that the library in the Bendre Bhavana would be converted into a “poetry library” where works of all Kannada poets would be made available. Books were being collected from donors for the purpose, and already 4,000 books had reached the library, he said. Mr. Kalburgi said that it had been decided to conduct “Bhavageete Sanje” on the 15th of every month to encourage school and college students. It had also been decided to conduct Bendre music classes Mondays and Tuesdays, he said. CampHe said the trust, in association with the Karnataka Sugama Sangeet Parishat, would be conducting “Sugama sangeet camp” in Dharwad on August 9 and 10.
