Tsunami relief: Maharashtra Chief Minister to hand over keys of houses in August

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Maharastra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh will hand over keys to houses funded by the Maharastra government as part of tsunami relief in Kerala in the second week of August.

Kerala Revenue Minister K. P. Rajendran said here on Thursday that 115 of the 250 houses funded by Maharastra at Alappad in Kollam district had been completed. The Minister said that Rs. 9 crores of the Rs. 12 crores provided by the Maharastra government had been earmarked for the housing project.

He said that the Arattupuzha panchayat has been granted permission for building 1,650 houses in the panchayat in Alappuzha district.

He said that the keys of the houses under construction at Beemapally here would be completed by September. Chief Minister V. S. Achuthanandan would hand over the keys on September 10.
