ANANTAPUR: District Collector N. Sridhar on Thursday visited houses and housing colonies taken up under the Indiramma scheme at Loluru and Akuledu villages in Singanamala mandal and Kalluru and Illuru villages in Garladinne mandal in the district. The visit was aimed at expediting the housing programme in the district and to ensure completion of houses till the roof and lintel level by August-end. The Collector enquired with the beneficiaries about supply of cement and other material and payment of bills for completed work and provision of drinking water and electricity supply. He also questioned the officials on provision of basic amenities in the colonies, payment of bills. At Loluru, the Collector spoke to a few beneficiaries They said bills for houses were paid promptly but payment was being delayed in respect of individual sanitary latrines. On being asked for provision of road and electricity, the Collector said that sanction orders were already issued . The officials told the Collector that of 82 houses sanctioned to the village, 58 were completed, 16 were at the roof level and the remaining were at lintel level. When the villagers pointed out that there were about 1,000 acres of ‘sotriyam’ lands in the village and 60 per cent of them were already distributed the poor and the remaining was yet to be distributed, the Collector promised to look into it. On sarpanch Suryanarayana’s request for sanction of crop loans, the Collector directed tahsildar Imtiaz to arrange crop loans to the cultivators of ‘sotriyam’ lands based on ‘adangal’ as was being done in the past. Milk collection centreAt Akuleduthe villagers requested for a milk route as they were producing about 1,000 litres milk everyday. The Collector assured them of starting a milk collection centre there immediately.
