Special programme have been chalked out BBFC will bring out a volume on the book fair BHUBANESWAR: The Bhubaneswar Book Fair Committee (BBFC) is gearing up for its special silver jubilee celebrations in the city commencing on November 7. The only fair of its kind in the country that is being hosted by a body of writers, the mega event would spread over 12 days and would be mounted at the sprawling Exhibition Ground, informed BBFC secretary Barendra Krushna Dhal following a meeting of the executive council. Nearly 400 book publishers and sellers from across the country have expressed their interest to participate in this year’s special event, he said and added that all the stalls have already been booked in advance. To make the celebration memorable, BBFC has chalked out a number of special programmes, Mr. Dhal said. A convention of all the book publishers and book sellers would be hosted during the fair. The meet would deliberate on different aspects of the current publishing industry. Since publishers and sellers play a pivotal role in dissemination of knowledge and information, all the participating organisations would be felicitated during the occasion, the secretary stated. BBFC would bring out a commemorative volume on the book fair, claimed to be the second largest in eastern India and the most awaited annual affair of its kind for the State. AnthologyThe publication would contain the history of the book fair and interesting anecdotes associated with the annual affair, it was learnt. The Committee has further decided to publish an anthology of short stories which have been awarded by the BBFC over the years. A number of promising and prominent writers have won the Bhubaneswar Book Fair awards and their writings would definitely excite the readers, Mr. Dhal hoped. A number of veteran and budding writers of the state would be specially honoured during the fair, he added. Among others, eminent writer Bibhuti Patnaik, academician Khageswar Mohapatra, noted translator Jugal Kishore Dutta and literary publisher Ashok Mohanty joined the executive council meet.
