ADILABAD: Minister for R&B and Adilabad district in-charge Minister T. Jeevan Reddy on Thursday asked officials not to prosecute farmers who were bringing in fertilizers purchased in Maharashtra. He said suitable instructions would be issued to officials manning border check-posts not to seize such fertilizers. The matter was brought to the notice of the in charge Minister by Mudhole MLA Narayan Rao Patel and Adilabad MLA C. Ramchander Reddy during the District Review Committee meeting. The latter also questioned the move of Agriculture Department officials in seizing fertilizer in Chinchughat gram panchayat from tribal farmers who had purchased it at Utnoor. Mr. Ramchander Reddy pointed out certain anomalies in allotment of fertilizer to individual farmers. He cited examples of a farmer’s family in Awalpur in Bela mandal that was given 150 bags of fertilizer. Similarly, he sought to know what action was being taken against the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society in Bela mandal where authorities resorted to irregularities in allotment. Adilabad Member of Parliament A. Indrakaran Reddy wanted the three rakes of fertilizers expected to arrive soon be unloaded at Basar, Mancherial and Adilabad, instead of the last station only. He said unloading at these rake points would make further transportation easier. Mr. Jeevan Reddy advised Boath MLA Soyam Bapu Rao to raise the matter of Scheduled Tribe status of Khanapur MLA Suman Rathod in the Assembly. He was responding to the allegation made by the MLA regarding the tribal status of Ms. Rathod whom officials had wrongly issued an ST certificate. Labour Minister G. Vinod, Luxettipet legislator N. Diwakar Rao, MLC Sultan Ahmed and Collector Ahmad Nadeem attended.
