WARANGAL: Cutting across the party lines, leaders of various political parties demanded for the arrest of Panchayat Raj Minister J. C. Diwakar Reddy’s brother J. C. Prabhakar Reddy for abusing the government officials and taking the names of their castes. TDP leader Kadiam Srihari lashed out the Congress government for giving unchecked freedom to the money and muscle power and added that at the behest of the Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, some people were virtually dictating terms to officials in the State. The officials were under constant threat from the relatives of ruling party members and contractors. Mr. Prabhakar Reddy dared to enter the office and abuse the officials as his brother was Minister in the cabinet. “Had somebody else done the same, a case would have been registered and action taken. The government should do the same now,” he said. CPI state unit secretary K. Narayana demanded dismissal of Minister J. C. Divakar Reddy holding him equally responsible for the act of his brother J. C. Prabhakar Reddy. “Case should be registered against Mr. Prabhakar Reddy and should be arrested immediately,” he said. Nava Telangana Praja Party president T. Devender Goud talking reporters said anarchy was prevailing in the State. Effigy burntMedak staff reporter writes: The Medak unit of Andhra Pradesh Nayee Brahmins Association staged a rasta roko here on Thursday and burnt the effigy of J.C. Prabhakar Reddy, demanding action against him for his alleged comments on barbers. They raised slogans against the Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and demanded arrest of Mr. Prabhakar Reddy for targeting a particular caste. Hair-cutting saloons all over the town remained closed as a mark of protest. The activists organised mock haircutting and shaved beards on the road. B. Mallesh of CPI(M), addressing the gathering and pointed out that belittling a hard working and law abiding community by Mr. Prabhakar Reddy should be treated as a crime and action must be taken against him. Protest threatAdilabad staff reporter writes: The AP Nayee Brahmin Seva Sangam’s Adilabad unit on Thursday threatened to launch an agitation if the government failed to take action against J.C. Prabhakar Reddy. In a memorandum the Sangam said Mr. Prabhakar Reddy, brother of Minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy has insulted their castes by his actions.
