MCD staff get shape-up warning
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: Municipal Commissioner K.S. Mehra on Thursday announced that the civic body would introduce the biometric system of attendance from Friday to ensure punctuality and regularity of its staff.
“The system will start in offices at the Town Hall headquarters of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Commissioner’s Office Complex in Ambedkar Stadium. From top level officials including Commissioner, Additional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and Heads of Departments down to Class IV employees, all will come under the new system,” said Mr. Mehra after a meeting here on Thursday.
Stating that the present system of marking attendance in the register was being done away with, the Municipal Commissioner said that to improve office culture and ensure better output of work it was necessary that all the employees and officers should be punctual in their attendance. “They must devote full office time to create better civic services,” he asserted. “Based on the computerised attendance record, the salary bills would be prepared for each month.”
