Marriage registration at Guruvayur on holidays too

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A special arrangement has been made at Guruvayur municipality to register marriages on holidays, including Sundays, from August 3.

Local Administration Minister Paloli Mohammed Kutty said in a release here on Thursday that authority to register marriages had been delegated to the health inspector of Guruvayur municipality through a special notification. Three casual employees too would be deployed to share the workload.

The government has approved the agreement between Guruvayur Devaswom Board and the Postal Department for sending the certificates by Speed Post. Applicants will get the certificate by Speed Post on remitting Rs.50. The arrangement was made considering the inconveniences of the public in registering marriages in the temple on holidays, he said.
