Punjab Wakf Board to be reconstituted
Sangrur: The Punjab Government will reconstitute Punjab Wakf Board soon,Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said here on Thursday.
Expressing concern over “bungling of funds” of the board, he told reporters here that a probe in this regard was on. He was talking to reporters at Malerkotla after laying foundation stone of four laning of Sangrur-Malerkotla-Ludhiana highway being constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 226 crore.
Later, Mr. Badal unveiled 12-feet statue of Udham Singh at his native place at Sunam to mark 69th State level martyr day of son of the soil who avenged Jalianwala Bagh massacre of April 13, 1919. Paying his glowing tributes to the martyr, he declared that the work for construction of four thermal power plants would be initiated within next couple of months to make the state self-sufficient in power sector by 2010.
He said the process for land acquisition for the power plants has almost been completed and the foundation stone for first plant would be laid in Mansa district on August 25. PTI
