25 killed in two road mishaps in Uttarakhand

DEHRA DUN: Twenty-five persons were killed and 13 went missing in two road mishaps in Chamoli and Tehri districts of Uttarakhand on Thursday.

Twenty bodies of Badrinath pilgrims from Nepal were recovered while 12 persons were missing after the bus in which they were returning from Badrinath fell into the Alaknanda river at Virahi near Peepalkoti in Chamoli district.

Rescue effort on

Six injured have been admitted to the Government Hospital at Joshimath.

Attempts were being made to rescue the missing persons.

In the other mishap, five persons including a woman were killed and three injured when the Tata Sumo they were travelling in from Budhakedar to Chamyala rolled off the hill road near Chamyala in Tehri district.

The driver is still missing when reports last came in.
