A bed of potholes, literally
If the Hyderabadi has welcomed the showers initially, he had begun cursing the rain god and the officialdom soon. Even before one could begin to enjoy the spell of rain, areas plunged into darkness as power supply is tripped instantly. Was the tripping due to the rain or was it deliberate in the backdrop of a severe power shortage is anybody’s guess. And then residents of the State capital were aghast to find that all it needed to make the already battered city roads absolutely unmotorable was a sudden downpour. Roads which were not resurfaced in the recent times have become a bed of potholes literally while the officials continued to turn a Nelson’s eye to the plight of road users. The officials would perhaps assure the tax payers that they had already called for tenders for laying of roads and that the road repair works would begin next summer. How many times haven’t we heard the same explanation?
