New format: The board game ‘Ramayana’ to be launched soon. HYDERABAD: It’s a timeless Indian epic that has inspired many. The Ramayana has not only captured the imagination of children but elders as well. From a TV serial on Sunday mornings to its latest graphic novel, the mythological tale will shortly be launched as a board game by city based firm, Vir Sivir Games. The game is divided into three levels as per the age group of players and accommodates three to nine players. Players take their places on the board, which is a map of India and important locales, events that take place in Ramayana are marked accordingly on the board. The central idea revolves around finding the whereabouts of Rama. “Players are given an event list, event cards and boon cards—each card plays a prominent role in deciding the course of the game. A number of events come up during game play at different points on the board and in due course, ” says Sharath Kumar Siva from Sivir Publishing Pvt. Ltd.The board game was launched at London Book Fair on April 14, in Chicago at the Balaji Temple, Aurora and in Dubai. Priced at Rs. 875, Telugu and Hindi versions of the game hit shelves of Indian retail stores shortly as well. Following Ramayana, more games based on Krishna and Gandhi will be launched shortly, informed Mr. Siva.
